Description:

(1914-2007) Urologist and famed collector, notable for his investigations into the Kennedy and Lincoln assassinations. Also known for being the general medical officer stationed in the barracks that housed Herman Goering and other high ranking Nazi's during the Nuremberg Trials. Fine content T.L.S. on Columbia University letterhead, 2pp. 4to., New York, March 30, 2004, to a collector about his experiences at Nuremberg. In part: 'You asked which of the defendants I thought stood out in my memory, I think Albert Speer was the most capable and attractive of the prisoners and should never have been tried in the first place since he tried to kill Hitler at the end. There is no harm in trying to do your best as an engineer for your country and he did wonders... Goring was certainly the most impressive of the Nazi leadership. He was very capable and very good and smooth when he wanted to be. On the other hand, he could be vicious in a flash, if you crossed him... Hitler turned on him in the end...He was a man of great capability, who could have run that country so much better than Hitler, that I asked him repeatedly why he didn't get Hitler out of the way...he was on morphine, and he [Goring] could make things look rosy anytime he wanted, with another shot...your letter from Magda [Goebbels] sounds interesting. Hitler certainly was a genius at getting people to be loyal...saw her husband all three children killed with cyanide, at the end...' Fine condition.
