Description:

(1860 - 1948) American general "Black Jack" Pershing commanded troops sent to capture Pancho Villa, and later was Commander in Chief of all American forces in Europe in World War I. Fine association T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Sep. 14, 1931 to Mina Edison, the wife of inventor Thomas Alva Edison. He writes concerning the National Recreation School, in part: "...[your letter] did not reach me until my return from abroad a few days ago. I am interested in this fine work to which you have so splendidly given much of your time and shall be glad to hear more about it. With kindest regards to you and Mr. Edison..." Folds, tiny stain at left margin, else very good. Matted in forest green and set into a wood frame. Mrs. Edison was a major contributor to the National Recreation and Park Association, and became much more active following her husband's death only a month later.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
