(1823 - 1903) Union brigadier general who led the 38th New York at Bull Run, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg where he was wounded. Good A.L.S., 1p. 4to., on State of New York. Commissary General's Office stationery, New York, Sept. 15, 1852, in part: "…the arms and equipment referred to…in Sept. 1849…[is that] the S. N. Y. plate…adopted by Genl. Lee as being appropriate to State Troops…it will be necessary to change the bayonet scabbards. I would suggest…that an order be issued directing an issue of 65 Waist Belts & plates (SNY)…". . Fine.
