Description:

JOHN F. KENNEDY
(1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the United States. Kennedy faced-down the Kruschev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, re-invigorated NASA, and signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Assassinated November 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald. RARE J.F.K. NOTES ON CUBAN CRISIS AND DOODLES INCORPORATING A SAILBOAT Especially rare and revealing 1p. legal folio set of notes and doodles in Kennedy''s hand, believed penned during the Cuban Missile Crisis. These notes originate from the collection of Robert White, a devoted Kennedy historian and collector who obtained them, as well as thousands of other notes, letters and artifacts, from Evelyn Lincoln, Kennedy''s personal White House secretary. From there, the notes passed through the hands of a museum owner who had them further authenticated by expert Herman Darvick (his COA included), and finally into the collection of our consignor. The pencil notes, in Kennedy''s unmistakable scribble, are intriguing, especially considering the time at which it is thought they were written. He writes: "...major communication...Governors - 90% 90% 6 Divisions Peacekeeping Sudan...JAG[?] Relles..." There is also a crudely-sketched sailboat at top, a common Kennedy doodle, with a star to its right, and a few of the words have been boxed and underlined several times. Fine condition.
