Description:

JOHN F. KENNEDY
(1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the United States. Kennedy faced-down the Kruschev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, re-invigorated NASA, and signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Assassinated November 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald. Rare early D.S. "John F. Kennedy", 1p. 4to., [n.p., n.d., likely Wallingford, CT, 1935], an advertising contract given by Kennedy to Redmond & Co., New York in anticipation of the company purchasing advertising space in The Brief, the Choate yearbook, unaccomplished but for the company's name typed in, boldly signed by Kennedy at bottom. This contract was intended for Redmond & Co. stockbroker Arthur Goldsmith, a Harvard roommate of Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and a long-time family friend. In the end, the firm took out a full-page ad. Fine condition, sold with a rate card issued by The Brief. Kennedy was sent to the Choate School, a private university preparatory boarding school for boys in Wallingford, Connecticut for 9th through 12th grades, following his elder brother, Joe Jr., who was two years ahead of him. He graduated from Choate in June 1935, with his yearbook entry reading: "Most likely to become President". A very rare, early Kennedy item!
