234. JOHN F. KENNEDY A fine association item, his book Profiles in Courage, Harper & Brothers: New York, 1955-1956, first edition, boldly inscribed on the front flyleaf: "To Lister Hill-a great Senator of courage and integrity. John Kennedy". Joseph Lister Hill (1894-1984) was a prominent Democratic Senator from Alabama, reelected for five terms. He is best remembered for his creation of the Hill-Burton Act of 1946, which guaranteed loans to states to ensure the nation's hospital system. Hill was also a sponsor, with Kennedy, of the National Library of Medicine. Just the lightest toning to top of signed page, pencil ownership signature on verso of back flyleaf, light foxing and a few chips to dust jacket, else very good. $2,500-3,500
