Description:

JOHN F. KENNEDY'S PRESENTATION V.F.W. PORTFOLIO
A fine Kennedy relic, a black vinyl portfolio, 16" x 12" with vinyl zipper-like closure. The front of the case bears the seal of the Veterans of Foreign Wars with a small gold printed identification: "JOHN F. KENNEDY U. S. SENATOR". The case was obtained from Capitol Police Officer James H. Boyer, Sr., a friend of Secret Service Agent and Kennedy friend John J. ("Mugsy") O'Leary. Boyer often worked for the Kennedys in his spare time, doing errands and work about their Georgetown home. Sold with a lengthy and descriptive letter of provenance from Boyer's daughter. Also sold with JACQUELINE KENNEDY, an A.L.S. "J. B. K." on her monogrammed correspondence notepaper, 2pp. 12mo., [Georgetown, ca. 1960], to Boyer negotiating payment for errands: "...I find I paid my last handyman $1.50 an hour - so I want to pay you the same - this is for 4 hrs. a day 5 days a week...Let me know...". Also with an original 3" x 5" candid photo of Kennedy in a V.F.W. cap, likely at a convention, and an original 8" x 10" photo of O'Leary and Boyer helping the Kennedy's move from their Georgetown home into the White House. Four pieces, very good.
