(1901-1997) John F. Kennedy's personal physician during his tenure at the White House. She is the first woman to serve as physician to the President of the United States. A group of three pieces that includes a T.Ms.S., a poem entitled "IN MEMORIAM NOVEMBER 22, 1963" from her book Office Hours: Day and Night, boldly signed "Janet Travell, M.D." The poem reads, in small part, "He had a rendezvous with greatness here. A flaming meteor, he came to light this mortal sphere, Illuminate men's minds and souls to fight Life's vices: bigotry, greed, malice, fear. In his noontime of the year..." Offered together with a T.L.S. as Personal Physician to J.F.K., 1p. 4to. on White House letterhead, Washington, Apr. 17, 1962, forwarding her autograph. Also offered with a program for "A Dinner in honor of The Honorable John Fitzgerald Kennedy given by The Honorable Adlai Ewing Stevenson" Signed by Travell in blue ink on the bottom right of the cover. Together three pieces in very good to fine condition.
