Description:

(JOHN F. KENNEDY ASSASSINATION)
REV. OSCAR L. HUBER American priest who administered last rites to President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963. A lot of two T.Ms.S., the first 2pp. 4to., titled "President Kennedy's Final Hours", In small part: "...The great day set for the visit of the President of the United States...had arrived. Dallas had worked feverishly to make this the most enthusiastic welcome...It was a thrilling moment for me as I had never before seen a President...I returned to the rectory, ate a brief lunch, had just finished when Father James N. Thompson C.M., one my assistants...announced that the President had been shot...Within a short time we were on our way to the hospital. Shortly afterward...a telephone call came from someone at Parkland Hospital, saying Mrs. Kennedy was requesting a priest to administer to the spiritual needs of the President...I found the fatally wounded President lying on a portable table. He was covered with a sheet that I removed from over his forehead before administering the Last Rites of the Catholic Church...Mrs. Kennedy bent over and seemed to kiss the President...Sorrow and consternation bowed the heads of everyone present...During this most trying ordeal, the perfect composure maintained by Mrs. Kennedy was beyond comprehension. I will never forget the blank stare in her eyes and the signs of agony on her face....at 5:30 the same afternoon as his death, I offered a Requiem Mass...in the presence of an over-flowing crowd...". Along with a similar T.Ms.S., 1p. 4to. entitled "Last Moments with President Kennedy", with more good content, and a signed brochure entitled "Around One O'clock", signed by Huber's assistant JAMES N. THOMPSON, C.M.". Fine condition, three pieces.
