Description:

Lot of three Lucite Kennedy-related paperweights. Included is a 2 1/4" example featuring the campaign aircraft "Caroline", with the airplane in gold and its dates of service. "Caroline" was a Convair 240, a prop plane with two engines which could transport 40 passengers. It was built in August 1948 and delivered to American Airlines where it served until 1959 when Joseph Kennedy purchased the aircraft and fitted it with an executive interior for his son's 1960 presidential campaign. Though for security reasons President Kennedy rarely used the aircraft after the election, it was used by the family until 1967 when it was donated to the National Air and Space Museum. Also present is a 3" dia. paperweight honoring the launching of the aircraft carrier USS JOHN F. KENNEDY in Boston, Aug. 3, 1970, with a third paperweight, a standing Israeli-issued piece featuring a bust of Kennedy and the Kennedy Memorial ("Yad Kennedy") in Jerusalem, likely issued in 1966. Three pieces.
