JOHN DILLINGER BANK ROBBERY RELIC
An original piece of embossed tin ceiling tile, 6"x6 1/2", once part of the ceiling at the American Trades Bank in Racine, Wi. which was robbed by John Dillinger and three others at 2:20 PM, Nov. 20, 1933. Part of the ceiling was damaged during the shoot-out in the bank. Dillinger escaped with three hostages, fleeing in his car. Comes with a note of authenticity: "The Racine Art Museum, which is located in the former American Trades Building in Racine Wisconsin removed the bank's original tin ceiling during renovations and sold it to Joyce and Charles Bond in order to raise funds for the museum. This original six inch piece of the American Trades Bank ceiling was cut by me from a two foot square piece acquired by me directly from the Bonds…". Less than a year after this bank robbery ( July 22, 1934), Dillinger was shot and killed by the F.B.I. outside a Chicago theatre.
