Description:

JOHN DILLINGER AND BONNIE & CLYDE WANTED POSTERS
Interesting lot of two wanted posters from the 1930's, 8"x8" each and printed on heavy cardboard stock, issued by the U.S. Department of Justice and intended as a mailing. The first depicts John Dillinger, alias Frank Sullivan, wanted for "...feloniously transporting a four door V-8 sedan, the property of Lillian Holley, sheriff, Lake County, Indiana, to Illinois...". In addition to his mug shots and fingerprints, Dillinger's criminal record is cited, including arrests for Murder, Bank Robbery and Escape. Offered with a "Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow" wanted poster, May 21, 1934, in connection with assaults and murder of officers in Texas. The Department of Justice opted to use two photographs found in a hotel room depicting Bonnie & Clyde standing in front of their automobile holding guns, instead of the usual mug shots. Both items are toned with some discoloration from water stains at corners, else good condition. Two pieces.
