JOHN BRIGHT
(1811 - 1889) English politician and orator who denounced the Crimean War and advocated electoral reform and religious freedom. Fine content A.Q.S. 1p. 12mo., Rochdale, July 29, 1865, a poem on the American Civil War: "'A dreadful brotherhood, In whom all turbulent- vices were let loose; while conscience, with their imperious creed accost[?], Drunk as with wine, had sanctified to them all bloody, all abominable things'". Below Bright has added a note: "Southey's 'Don Roderick' & may be applied to the character & objects of the leaders of the great rebellion 1861-1865". Mounted to a larger sheet, light toning and small loss at upper right filled in with period paper, else very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
