Description:

John Bradstreet 1711-1774 British colonial military officer who captured Fort Frontenac in 1758, breaking the French line between the St. Lawrence and Ohio rivers, and in 1764 led an army to suppress Pontiac's rebellion. A.L.S. 2pp. 4to., Albany, Dec. 3, 1758 to Charles Anthorp. During the French and Indian War, he writes: ... I now send Mr. Lovell to Boston to pay off all the New England carpenters employ'd by the Publick this way this campaign and have drawn on you... write to Mr. Mortier informing him how much I have overdrawn upon you and he will give me a further credit. The last seven lines of the letter were removed by a collector and mounted on verso. Skillfully done, this section could be reattached to the front. Owner's notation at top, one chip in right margin affects one word. Still, overall very good.
