JOHN B. MONTGOMERY
(1794 – 1872) American naval officer, served in the War of 1812, Mexican–American War and the Civil War, raised the American flag over the town of Yerba Buena (today's San Francisco) during the Bear Flag Revolt, captured Guaymas,and commanded the Pacific Squadron until relieved on January 2, 1862. Signed carte de visite photograph, a seated pose in uniform signed with rank as 'Rear Admiral' on verso, dated '1868' in another hand. Image a bit faded, small tear at bottom margin and a few other flaws, still quite good.

Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
