Description:

JOHN ADAMS
(1735 - 1826) Second President of the United States and a drafter of the Declaration of Independence, which he also signed. He later joined Franklin and Jay to negotiate peace with Great Britain. Fine association free frank on the front panel (only) of a cover, addressed entirely in his hand: "Thomas B. Adams Attorney at Law J. Adams Philadelphia". Thomas Boylston Adams (1772-1832) was Adams' youngest child. He accompanied his brother John Quincy on his first diplomatic mission to Europe as secretary in 1794, returned in 1798, and practiced law in Philadelphia for some years thereafter. In 1811 he was appointed chief justice of the circuit court of common pleas for the southern circuit of Massachusetts. Stamp cancel dated Boston, Oct 12, [n.y.]. Mounting traces show-through lightly at all four corners, otherwise very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
