Description:

JIMI HENDRIX SELLS THE RIGHTS TO ONE OF HIS SONGS
(1942 - 1970) American rock guitarist considered one of the most influential and trend-setting musicians of his generation. Early signed document with rare form of his signature: "Jimmy Hendrix", 2pp. 8 1/2" x 14", New York, March 30, 1966. In this "Popular Songwriters Contract", Hendrix sells the publishing rights to his song "I Ain''t Taking Care of No Business" to RSVP Music, Inc. for a $1.00 token advance, five cents per copy sold, and 50% of all profits earned. Hendrix signed the agreement in blue ink near the bottom of the second page. A few letters in the signature are light due to a faulty pen, but all remain legible. Hendrix composed this song which was recorded at Studio 76, New York City on 17 July 1967. Curtis Knight performed the vocals. A demo version of the track seems to have been recorded in 1966 but there is no known 1966 studio version. The track was later recorded by the Jimi Hendrix Experience during sessions for "Axis: Bold As Love" in May 1967. According to Jimi, speaking of the 1967 PPX sessions: "There was one time that Curtis started playing this song - I think it was No Business - and like he was playing an old version of it, some demo version or something, I don''t know. And we were playing with it. But that old version was made like, you know, a while back." With COA by widely-recognized expert Roger Epperson / REAL.
