JEREMIAH WADSWORTH
(1743 - 1804) Commissary General for the Continental Army and commissary for Rochambeau's army. Good content war-date A.L.S. with holograph address leaf addressed to "His Excellency Joseph Reed Esqr. President of the State of Pennsylvania", 1p. 8vo., Stratford, Pa., Apr. 24, 1780. Wadsworth requests a copy of a letter "from a Committee of Congress...on the subject of Shipping flour in which they inform Your Excellency that they have...[vessels with] flour which is spoiling in their Magazines...". Address panel is hinged to Wadsworth's letter which is signed at lower-left corner and bears a small stain at upper-right, still very good.
