271. (JEFFERSON, THOMAS) An impressive and scarce engraving after the aquatint by THADDEUS KOSCIUSZKO (1746-1816) and engraved by Michel Sokolnicki (1760-1816), 11" x 14" titled below his portrait "Thomas Jefferson A Philosopher a Patriote and a Friend Dessiné par son Ami Tadée Kosciuskzko. Et Gravé par Mt. Sokolnicki". Lightly toned at top right corner, very light foxing, else fine condition. Offered together with three other prints (all on folio sheets) including a simple 4" x 7" French bust portrait; a folio (likely mourning) bust portrait lithograph by a French artist; and a later printed reproduction of a print honoring Jefferson's retirement from the Presidency. Four pieces, lightly toned and foxed at edges, else very good. $1,200 - 1,500
