"Th Jefferson", 1p., folio, Washington, June 2, 1804, a scallop-topped ship's paper for the vessel Devotion of New York, master Ormond Noble, 28 tons with a crew of 14 men. Countersigned by Secretary of State and future President JAMES MADISON. With original paper seal intact. Signatures and engrossment have faded to about 7/10, yet Jefferson's signature remains crisp and clean, no toning, and paper seal with a fine impression. $4,000-5,000
