Description:

JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT - ANDY WARHOL EXHIBITION POSTER
Graffiti artist and painter Jean-Michel Basquiat was the son of Haitian and Puerto Rican parents whose social commentaries-on-canvas became the toast of the New York City art world during the early and mid-1980s during a period when a lack of black artists in positions of prominence made his success less likely than not. Although he was promptly applauded by audiences internationally, Basquiat''s thoughts on racism, classism and power structures often became the focus of media attention, at the expense of his art. Today, Basquiat''s works regularly bring tens of millions at auction.
In 1984, Basquiat began to collaborate with the pop art painter Andy Warhol. In late 1985, the two exhibited their resulting canvases at the renowned Tony Shafrazi Gallery in Manhattan, and launched the event with an exclusive party at the famed Palladium nightclub. This is an original invitation to that star-studded, one-night-only event, of which few have survived intact.
Condition is excellent. The graphic measures 17'' x 11'' and folded for mailing. Attractively matted and framed using all acid-free materials.
