Fine content A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., [St. Jean Cap Ferrat], May 26, 1951, to artist and photographer Jean Clemmer in French. In part: "...You are right. Do not mix haute couture with theatre. It is important to work on the set with your hands. The only possible help is to go to Karinska. Thank you from my heart for the gesture...". Cocteau mentions prominent Russian costume designer Barbara Karinska, who designed costumes for Cocteau's plays and collaborated with George Balanchine, Balthus, Miro and others. With original holograph envelope, light foxing and wear, very good.
