Description:

JAYNE MANSFIELD (1933 - 1967) American film, theater, and television actress. She was also a singer and nightclub entertainer as well as one of the early Playboy Playmates. Mansfield was a major Hollywood sex symbol during the 1950s and early 1960s while under contract at 20th Century Fox. She was also known for her well-publicized personal life and publicity stunts, such as 'wardrobe malfunctions'. Tragically killed in a car accident. Very rare original photographer's slide, a 35mm. Kodachrome transparency, 1.5 x 1.5 in., shows Mansfield outdoors and under a large, straw hat, presumably naked and with her arms in the air. The photograph was taken by WILLIAM READ WOODFIELD (1923-2001) during his famous shoot of Mansfield for her spread in the February, 1957 edition of Playboy - which sold over one million copies! The slide mount bears Woodfield's attribution, notes, and file numbers. This slide was obtained by us directly from Woodfield's widow, Lili Woodfield. William Woodfield was also known for his famous poolside series of photographs of Marilyn Monroe from 'Something's Got to Give,' his interviews of assassin Jack Ruby and his family (sold by us), and his work on television. Fine.
