(JAWAHARAL NEHRU) INDIRA GANDHI
(1917 - 1984) Indian Prime Minister who worked for better economic planning and social reform, assassinated. Fine content T.L.S., 1p. 4to. New Delhi, July 3, 1964 to Ellsworth Bunker, the U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States, thanking him for his words given at the memorial service held in the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru at National Cathedral in Washington. Offered together with a program from the June 5, 1964 service, a reading copy of Bunker's tribute to the deceased Indian statesman and other related ephemera. Bunker had served as the U.S. Ambassador to India from 1956 to 1961. Overall very good to fine condition.
