Description:

An exceptionally rare World War II relic, an original control stick from a Mitsubishi A6M Zero, 28.75 in. long. Grip and upper portion of the stick are original, with the original later war style rivets, and has been repainted in a color similar to it's original color, as seen in period photos and other existing examples. The lower yoke attachment portion is also original, and is still painted in it's original japanese paint of blue-grey, and showing some chipping and scratches due to original wear and restoration, as well as the application of custom replacement rivets. The whole assembly has been fitted with an 8 in. portion of a transfer bar at the bottom, which appears to be a reproduction. This transfer bar exhibits the accurate female ball joint type fitting, allowing for an original range of movement. The famous Japanese Zero was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940-1945 and was considered the most capable carrier-based fighter in the world upon its introduction. In the early years of the war the fighter earned a reputation as a dogfighter with an impressive kill ration of 12 to 1. By 1943 the Allies had begun to release new aircraft that put them on equal footing with the Zero and eventually surpassing it in terms of maneuverability and fire power. Overall excellent condition; and ready for installation in a Japanese Zero restoration project.
