Description:

JAPANESE SOLDIER'S "GOOD LUCK" FLAG
A neat World War II relic, a white silk "meatball" Japanese flag measuring 37" x 25" signed by a number of Japanese soldiers. These flags, signed by fellow warriors, were typically carried for luck by Japanese soldiers. When the Japanese soldier was wounded or killed in action, American soldiers often seized these flags as souvenirs. Delicate condition, with some thinning in places, some staining, still very good. Accompanied by an original 10" x 8" sepia photograph showing a group of people congregated around a similar flag holding banners and so forth, rolled. Two pieces.
