JAPANESE MILITARY LEADERS AND POLITICIANS (5)
A group of five pieces signed by prominent Japanese leaders during the war, includes: SAITO MAKOTO (1858-1936) Japanese naval officer and Prime Minister who rose to fame for his command of cruisers during the First Sino-Japanese War, later was a military governor of Korea. Assassinated along with several other high-ranking officials in an attempted coup of the Japanese Empire on Feb. 26, 1936. S.P. 3.5 X 5.5 in. b/w, a postcard image of Makoto in head and shoulders, signed at bottom. Light soiling, else very good. WITH: YOSHIDA SHIGERU (1878-1967) Japanese Prime Minister, 1946-47 and 1948-54. Signature on a small card. Collector's dockets clear of signature, very good. WITH: a page from a vintage autograph album with the signatures of Prime Minister BARON REIJIRO WAKATSUKI (1866-1949), Admiral TAKESHI TAKARABE (1867-1949), and Admiral BARON KIYOKAZU ABO (1870-1929). On verso is a signature that creates a bit of show-through, otherwise very good. Five signatures.
