JAMES WADSWORTH
(1730 - 1817) Major general of Connecticut militia who defended the Connecticut coast against attacks by Benedict Arnold, later a Continental Congressman. A set of three signed documents, each bearing the endorsing signature of Wadsworth. The first is an endorsement on the verso of a partly-printed D.S. 1p. legal folio, Durham, CT, Dec. 3, 1762, a deed in which John Camp Jr. of Durham sells to Elemuel Gernsey, "...all my Right, Title, and Interest which I have as proprietor in the Common and Undivided Lands in the Township of Durham...". The second is a partly-printed D.S. as witness, 1p. legal folio, Durham, Dec. 28, 1789, in which Israel Camp sells land to Bridgman Garnsey. The third, a manuscript D.S., signed as Province of the Massachusetts Bay. All three bear the expected folds, some with partial separations, light toning, marginal wear, else very good. Together, three pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
