Description:
JAMES I (1566 - 1625) King of England, and as James VI was King of Scotland, son of Mary, Queen of Scots and succeeded to the throne following the death of Elizabeth I, sought to assert the divine right of kings, and his severity toward Roman Catholics brought about the Gunpowder Plot. The King James version of the Bible was prepared in his honor (1611). Rare, bold signature on a small sheet measuring about 3" x 2", mounted to a cardboard sheet. Wear as expected, otherwise good.
