JAMES I
(1566 - 1625) King of England, and as James VI was King of Scotland, son of Mary, Queen of Scots and succeeded to the throne following the death of Elizabeth I, sought to assert the divine right of kings, and his severity toward Roman Catholics brought about the Gunpowder Plot. The King James version of the Bible was prepared in his honor (1611). Scarce partial manuscript D.S. "James R", 1p. 8vo. (sight), [n.p., n.d.], in a small, ornate script in Latin, not translated, boldly signed at top left. Dampstain at right but very good. Handsomely matted with a portrait engraving and ready to frame. Not examined out of mat.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
