"Henry James" on his Lam House letterhead, 2pp. 8vo., Aug. 30, 1906, to Mrs. Louisa C. Walsh. In part: "I have rejoiced to hear from you so appreciatively & also of your own duples prosperity by which I don't accuse you of duplicity, But I am much upset by seeing... the enclosed in this a.m.'s... Nettie Rodger's death on Monday last... I have wired to Katie & incline to believe her brother, Rob, must be with them. If the end had been foreseen, he is pretty sure to be there & she had long been gravely ill..." Letter ends at top of recto with a full signature. Accompanied by original transmittal envelope, addressed in James' hand. Very good. $200-300
