Description:

(1896 - 1993) American aviator and USAAF general who gained fame both as a racing pilot and as leader of the first air raid on Tokyo during World War II. Good pair of T.L.S.'s, includes: T.L.S., 1p, 4to., Los Angeles, May 30, 1980, to a J. David Spohn, a district manager for Mutual of Omaha in Atlanta. Doolittle thanks his correspondent for his "fine letter", broaches the possibility of arranging a meeting, and compliments the Mutual of Omaha staff members he has met while associated with the company, on whose board he served in the late 70's and early 80's. He signs at the conclusion in blue ink. WITH: A second T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Monterey, July 16, 1980, again to Spohn, recommending his biography written by Lowell Thomas and Ed Jablonski and mentioning that is sending a signed copy under separate cover in a post-script at the conclusion. He signs at the conclusion in blue. Both show original mailing folds and include their original transmittal envelopes, else fine.
