Description:

JAMES EARL RAY
(1928 - 1998) Assassin of Martin Luther King whom he killed in Memphis in 1968. Original signed pen and ink drawing "James Earl Ray" on a 13 1/2" x 11" sheet, [n.p. but in prison, Sep., 1995], a rather crude sketch of a prisoner labeled "Biggs" about to climb a rope ladder over a prison while as two armed accomplices watch, labeled by Ray: "The escape of Ronal Biggs, one the the Great Train Robbers, from Wandsworth Prison in London, England. He escaped in a van backed against the wall". Very good. Of course, Ray also briefly escaped prison in 1977. Sold with four copies of telex messages sent to Scotland Yard concerning Ray's extradition and a possible escape attempt, signed by him in full on the first page. Two pieces.
