JAMES D. TRUDEAU
(1817 - 1887) Confederate brigadier general of Louisiana militia. Wounded at Shiloh while on the staff of P. T. G. Beauregard, thereafter seeing no further action. Good military content, war-date autograph D. S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Columbus, KY, Dec. 1861, ‘Special Orders No 2' issued by order of Maj. Gen. Leonidas Polk, reading, in part: ‘…Col Gibson, Commdg 15th Regt Louisiana Volunteers, will cause his Regt. To take arms immediately and report as quick as possible to General Headquarters, with as little noise as possible… The greatest dispatch and the utmost silence are enjoined…' Trudeau signs in black ink at the conclusion, adding his rank ‘Brig Genl'. The bottom edge of the sheet has been irregularly trimmed, slightly affecting the signature, with expected folds and mounting remnants to the verso, in very good condition overall.
