(1791 - 1868) Fifteenth President of the United States whose hands-off attitude toward states' rights directly contributed to the start of the Civil War. Fine partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. folio, Washington, Jan. 26, 1859, a military appointment of James P. Magee as "...an Assistant Surgeon in the Navy, from the 8th of October 1858...". Countersigned by ISAAC TOUCEY as Secretary of the Navy. One small hole at top clear of text, else very good condition and very handsomely displayed in black mat and gilt frame.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
