JACOB BESER (ENOLA GAY)
(1921 - 1992) Army Air Corps radar specialist who flew aboard the Enola Gay when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Beser performed the same duties aboard ‘Bocks Car' days later over Nagasaki. Beser's personal copy of the War Department publication: ‘Technical Manual Air Navigation Tables', released June 5, 1942. Beser writes his name at the top left corner of the cover. There is a possibility that Beser carried this book with him on one if not both flights. Accompanied by an S.P., 8 x 10 in. b/w, modern print showing Beser posing in front of the Enola Gay, signed at the bottom right in black ink. SOLD WITH an S.P., 10 x 8 in. b/w, modern print showing the crew of the Enola Gay posing before the aircraft, signed by THOMAS FEREBEE (1918-2000) across his image in blue ink, adding ‘bombadier'. Three pieces, fine.
