Description:

'J'-STAMPED PASSPORT OF AN AUSTRIAN BANKER
Passport issued to Austrian bank official Felix Dauzig and bearing a large, red 'J' on the first page. The 'reisepass' was issued to the 46-year-old Dauzig in Vienna on Jan. 2, 1939 and the document was valid for only one year. It still bears his identification photograph, and also includes his particulars within. Stamps within the passport show that on Jan. 20, 1939 Dauzig exchanged all of his German currency as required by law - usually done at a most disadvantageous rate. On Jan. 13, 1939 Dauzig was granted a visa by the Chinese Consul in Vienna and there is a German exit stamp in his passport dated Jan. 24, 1939. He then sailed around the world, first to Colombo where he landed on Feb. 22, 1939, and then a stamp in Singapore where he was given temporary permission to land on Feb. 28th. Finally, on Mar. 10, 1939 Dauzig was given a one-year visa to remain in the Straits Settlements of Penang, Singapore, Malacca, and Labuan. Cover detached else very good.
