(1827 - 1905) Union brigadier general who fought at Balls Bluff, Fair Oaks, and Antietam where he was wounded. Fine content war-date manuscript L.S. 'I.J. Wistar' as brigadier general, 1p. 4to., Yorktown, Va., July 26, 1863, Wistar's retained signed copy of a successful combat report sent to Col. and AAG Louis H. Pelouze. In part: '...in pursuance of the annexed order...the troops...marched as directed...They brought in 16 horses, a quantity of arms, 2 wagons and harness, and a rebel mail carriers with his mail...[who] I have the honor to forward with this report. Forty rebel cavalry left Gloucester Court House this evening previous to our arrival being part of the force I was anxious to capture...No casualties...' Expertly inset, very fine condition. Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
