Description:

IMPERIAL KRIEGSMARINE DAGGER
IMPERIAL NAZI KRIEGSMARINE DAGGER, 11.75 in. blade and 17 in. overall, crafted during the time of Imperial Germany with a depiction of an Imperial crown as the gilded pommel nut. After the Kriegsmarine regulation updates of 1938, naval personnel would simply upgrade their long-owned personal daggers, by purchasing a Third Reich pommel to replace the former Imperial Crown-styled pommel. Features a yellow-white, glass-enameled grip which shows some graining and light discoloration to one side from age. The hilt crossguard bears a fouled anchor at the center on either side, with a fully intact blade release button. Maker marked on the ricasso ‘CE' along with the well-known squirrel emblem for Carl Eickhorn. The blade displays an elegant etching on both sides of a ship, an anchor, and filigree designs. Housed within a gilded brass scabbard with lightning-bolt motifs and two suspension rings. Expertly tied around the handle and crossguard of the blade by a navy man is a gold portepee interwoven with red and black braided threads. A beautiful example.
