Description:

IDENTIFIED BUCHENWALD CZECH PRISONER'S CHEST INSIGNIA AND EPHEMERA
A fine grouping of items once belonging to Czech political prisoner Adam Bedrich held at Buchenwald concentration camp and who managed to survive his ordeal. Included in the grouping is a red cloth shirt triangle, 3.5 in. on each side and stenciled with a black 'T', this patch denoting the wearer as a political prisoner. Also present: a 3pp. 8vo. letter from 'Borina[?] Jitka', warm content expressing a desperate hope to see the prisoner again and giving news on the medical condition of various friends and relatives; an original 7 x 5 in. b/w postwar photo of liberated camp prisoners, our prisoner likely among them, as they march before onlookers; paperback book 'The Last Ten Days Buchenwald' (Pilsen: Volnost Book Store), 1945. In Slovanian, with the name 'Adam Bedrich' stamped several times within, a Buchenwald commemorative badge, and a 1950s newspaper clipping concerning the camp. Very good. We have confirmed that Bedrich (b. 1905) was indeed held at Buchenwald for a brief time in 1943 before he was transported elsewhere.
