Description:

Unusual Third Reich-era propaganda book, 'Erzeugnisse Unserer Arbeit' ('Products of Our Work'), (Frankfurt am Main: I.G. Farbeindustrie Aktiengesellschaft), 1938, 214pp. 4to., a self-congratulatory examination of the products and industries controlled by the chemical and pharmaceutical conglomerate I.G. Farben. The book describes I.G. Farben's contributions to medicine, agriculture, textiles, energy production, synthetic materials, film, fashion, and much else, liberally interspersed with color illustrations. Students of the Third Reich and the Holocaust will recognize images and descriptions of the 'Deutsche Arbeitsfront' ('German Labor Front') and their 'Kraft durch Freude' ('Strength Through Joy') program, as well as an examination of 'Buna', a synthetic rubber most infamously produced for I.G. Farben by slave labor at the Auschwitz III-Monowitz concentration camp. I.G. Farben's most infamous product, the pesticide gas Zyklon B, is notably absent from this work. The publication shows some creases and chips to the covers, else very good. Also present are three bonds issued in the liquidation of I. G. Farben. The certificates, for 100, 200 and 1000 Reichsmarks, indicate the name of the firm and are dated 1953 in Munich. Four coupons of the original ten remain attached to each certificate. Fine. Three pieces.
