Description:

759. (THOMAS HUTCHINSON) (1711-1780) Royalist Colonial Governor of Massachusetts whose support of the Stamp Act led to the burning of his home. His repressive policies hastened the onset of the Revolution. A.L.S. to Hutchinson from colonial official CHARLES CUSHING, 1p. legal folio, Pownalborough, 1772, in which Cushing mentions that he has received a list of officers commissions and had filled them out per Hutchinson's orders, but apparently some error had been made in the naming of the company. Cushing also thanks the Governor for his Justice's commission. Chipped at top and bottom margins costing a few letters of text, tape repairs on verso, else very good. $75-100
