Manuscript L.S. with integral address leaf, 1p. 4to., "Navy Yard", Charlestown, Mass., Apr. 15, 1817 to prominent naval officer John Percival, who would later become the first naval officer to visit Hawaii. In part: "...From the nature of the business you are about to undertake it is impossible to calculate with precision how long you will have to be detained in London...if, therefore, you should be in want of more money...you are hereby authorised to draw on me at Short Sight..." Two letters in signature brushed, a few tiny stains, light toning, else very good. $250 - 350
