Description:

HOWARD UNRUH ORIGINAL PAINTING
HOWARD UNRUH (1921–2009) American mass murderer who shot and killed thirteen people during a twelve-minute walk through his neighborhood in Camden, New Jersey, on September 6, 1949 in an incident that became known as the 'Walk of Death'. Unruh was found criminally insane and died in 2009 after a lengthy illness following 60 years of confinement. The shooting remains the deadliest mass shooting in New Jersey history, and is one of the first examples of a mass shooting in post-war history. An exceedingly rare original 20 x 16 in. oil on canvas-covered board painting by Unruh and signed by him: 'H. UNRUH '73' at lower-right. The piece is a well executed pastoral image of a stone bridge across a small stream, set in a forest beside a clearing. In excellent condition. From the personal collection of Robert 'Bobby' Farish, a friend and supporter of mobster John Gotti and a collector of Sheriff Buford Pusser memorabilia.
