HORST-GUNTHER VON FASSONG AND OTHER LUFTWAFFE PILOTS
HORST-GUNTHER VON FASSONG (1919-1945) German fighter ace 63 and 136 aerial victories and possibly 46 more on the Western front; awarded the Knight's Cross and German Cross in Gold. Killed in action on Jan. 1, 1945, during Operation ‘Bodenplatte'. A.D.S. with three scarce signatures, 2pp. legal folio, [n.p.], July 1, 1943. A proposed promotion of Feldwebel Rudolf Wagner serving in the 10./Jagdeschwader Molders to the rank of Leutnant. With a lengthy description of Wagner's personality and service, signed at bottom by Fassong, German ace with 136 victories and awarded German Cross in Gold. Also signed on verso by PAUL DEICHMANNN (1898-1981) German general and Knight's Cross recipient, Commander-in-Chief of Luftwaffe Command 4; and THEODOR NORDMANN (1918-1945) Luftwaffe Stuka ace and the first to have made 600 missions; killed in action when his Fokke Wulf-Fw 190 collided with his wing man in bad weather over Insterberg. He claimed 300 Soviet tanks and was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. File holes at left, light toning to margins and emendations/stamps throughout, very good.
