Horace Greeley 1811-1872 American journalist and founder of the New York Tribune which advocated abolition, and universal amnesty and suffrage. Greeley also posted bail for Jefferson Davis. A.L. S. 1p. 4to., New York, Nov. 19,1850 to G. H. Loomis. Concerning giving a lecture, he writes: ...I can not yet name the day, but you may consider it settled... As to compensation, I make no terms. I can do without pay easier than I can spare the time... have a good commodious hall..
