HOLY NAIL RELIC A rare Holy Nail relic of Jesus Christ, said to contain a particle of a nail used in the crucifixion of Christ contained in and 5" oxidized four-sided iron with semi-spherical cap and correct red wax seal and ribbon. The relic is supposedly identical to the original, and was issued in 1865 by the Basilica of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem in Rome, one of the four major Pontifical Basilicas in that city. The relic is tied to a partly-printed certificate, 1p. oblong 4to., Rome, July 27, 1924 in Latin which attests to the authenticity of the relic and is signed at bottom by the Prior of the Pontifical Basilica and bearing his ink stamp. Housed in a simple period frame. Bidders should note we are selling the document alone, with the relic described as a gift included in the lot. $600 - 800
