Description:

HOLOCAUST PHOTOGRAPHY
A grouping of 31 5" x 6 1/2" printed b/w photographs taken by members of the 166th Signal photo company of victims, alive and dead, at some of Germany's most notorious concentration camps, including Buchenwald, Ohrdruf, Hergenhein, and at Wetterfield. Also included are images of German civilians forced by the liberators to view and transport the bodies to new graves in different locations. The photos cite the photographers' names, locations, and offer explanatory notes. Also included are five original 3" x 4 3/4" candid photos taken by an American soldier depicting piles of bodies discovered upon the liberation of an unknown camp. These images are simply too ghastly to illustrate - the less horrifying ones are shown here. Vivid testimony.
