HITLER YOUTH MARINE CADET'S PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM
Fine content Hitler Youth sea cadet's photograph album, 9.5 x 6.5 in. overall, containing 58 [photos, most 3.5 x 2.5 in. b/w. The album opens with 14 images of the boy volunteering to work at a harvest of flax in Wuppelsser Altendeich, near Bremerhaven where he is shown with other Hitler Youth and the landowner. From Aug. 3-23, 1942 he is in training as a sea cadet at Zempelburg (Sepolno Krajenskie, Poland, also the site of mass murders of Jews and Polish resistance fighters). He draws and cuts-out a self portrait of himself at a ship's wheel, and includes six photos of himself and his fellow trainees, most while at the barracks. His course completion certificate is also laid in. In the winter of 1942, he is recruited into the Wehrmacht and 17 photos show mostly himself in Kriegsmarine uniform alone, with friends, and with a young lady. Thje remaining 22 images are fine photographs of German warships on maneuvers, some making smoke, gunnery practice, a schooner, and a U-boat. Overall fine.
