Description:

A scarce Third Reich decoration, a badge awarded to a "Gausieger" ("district winner") of the "Reichsberufswettkampf", a professional competition sponsored by the Hitler Youth and the "Deutsche Arbeitsfront" ("German Labor Front"). The badge, approx. 1.75 in. square, depicts a national eagle atop a cogwheel with an enameled Hitler Youth diamond applied thereto, all applied to a wreathed disk of white enamel bearing the title "Gausieger" and the date "1938". The reverse is fitted with a vertical clasp and bear the maker's mark "G. Brehmer Markneukirchen". The badge shows some slight tarnish, else very good. It is accompanied by a printed award certificate, 1p. folio, granting the award to a Georg Weitzel for his submission in the "Eisen un Metall" ("Iron and Metal") category. The facsimile signatures of DAF head Robert Ley and Hitler Youth head Baldur von Schirach appear at the conclusion. The certificate is housed in its original presentation folder, bearing an embossed depicting of the badge in silver. The certificate itself appears to be missing its integral rear leaf, and the folder shows bumps to the edges and small tears, else very good. Two pieces.
